Pressing a random button on the screen is not a skill, it's a reflex test. And if you miss it, you would repeat the long scenes again. I don't think I have that patience. If the combat is not strong, don't hide it with cinematic tricks. This is exactly why I stopped enjoying some action games
This “reset” thing was wishful thinking. These companies have tasted easy money, they won't suddenly wake up to start doing passion project again. Total War problem is not about the direction alone, it's about trust. Once players feel cheated, it's a long journey back.
I tried one deep strategy game like that, after 1 hour, my brain just hangs like a bad network. 😂 I think I don't have the time to study games. Moreso, games are suppose to make us feel relaxed, not turn us into an analyst. 😂
Sometimes, having lesser features is more engaging. Adding more systems doesn't mean better gameplay. The developers like to stack up the features, forgetting about stability and balance which is also very necessary.
That start small idea can be very tiring, honestly. Sometimes I just want to start in a powerful way and enjoy the strategy without any stress. That slow buildup is not for everybody, especially if you have a limited time.
Stellaris updates always sound better than the actual gameplay sometimes 😅. I was literally talking about this today, I installed one update, next thing, my computer started lagging. All these new features are sweet but they pile up the complexity of the game. Not everyone has that high-end PC...
AI is not even my main problem. For me, it's the time-wasting mechanics. Some games would just drag for no reason. They have endless micromanagement and nothing meaningful. You will spend hours clicking, not actually thinking about strategy. That one is more tiring than a bad AI.
I think nostalgia is deceiving people 😅. Some of those old games we praise today, if you play them now, you will be annoyed because you might not enjoy them. I tried to play a classic game and the controls just felt like a punishment. Modernizing them is not always bad, sometimes it’s a necessity.
Text-based games is not a patience issue, it's a boredom issue 😅 Our attention span has reduced but also the standards has improved too. People want visuals, immersion, something to hold their mind. Deep strategy is good, but if presentation is not engaging, you would get tired soon.
Real-time is where the real tension is. All that waiting turns feels too slow. I prefer those little chaos and the quick decisions. Yes, it could be stressful, but that’s the fun. If everything is too controlled, it would feel like an exam, not a game.
All these accidental success stories can be very painful 😅. I was grinding like crazy and I planned everything, but I still got betrayed by AI. I spent hours building alliance, the next thing, they gang up on me. So, sometimes, it's not about patience, it's luck. That’s why I stopped taking...
The most unrealistic thing is how smoothly everything works. No delays, everything goes smoothly. In real life, you would come across difficulties here and there. But in these games, you click once and everything obeys immediately. It's a very inspiring fiction. Sometimes I play and just laugh...
Early games are more fun for me. I wont lie because everything is still fresh at that stage. Late games can be very stressful sometimes. There are too many things to manage, plus if you mess up early, you would suffer quietly. The early stage has that clean vibes and you are in control too...
I don't roleplay at all. Any time I get into a game, I don't play as a leader. I just play anyhow, sometimes reckless, sometimes calm depending on my mood. Sometimes I would chill, build the economy like I am a governor planning the city.🤣 All in all, I think it depends on my mood. That is what...
I always pick a faction based on fun, not even the strength. If their buildings doesn't look clean, I will not be interested at all. I just want that futuristic glow and a smooth design. There was a time I picked a faction just because their base looked like something from a movie, the next...
The so-called “hero units” are just developers trying to impress lazy players. I remembered a game where a single hero was doing the work of an entire army. It was very realistic indeed, in fact too realistic for my liking. Strategy games should be about systems, not one overhyped champion...
I start slow, but once I reach the middle of the game, it becomes a full aggression. Early in the game, I usually do my calculations, build gradually because one mistake can wipe out every other thing. But as I progressed, I don't think too much again, because I already have a solid plan on...
This has been a very common question. Even me, I am not too fast but I still enjoy slower paced RTS games. It must not necessarily be of the StarCraft speed type. I just pick games that focus more on planning not speed and I am very okay with them.
The issue of “luck” is a big one in strategy games and it is where many developers deceive us. Strategy games are supposed to reward your hardwork, not luck. I remembered how my well-planned attack failed because of one random nonsense. If I wanted that kind of uncertainty, I would play some...
I don't like the unit that spoils the balance of the game. I remember the RTS I played that time, there was a heavy tank and once you have 5 of them, the game is over already. All the enemies would run for cover.🤣 Since that day, I don't trust “overpowered” units anymore. They will make the...
